Walks, Hikes and Trails

The Quantock Hills offer so much to explore that you'll be hard pushed to fit it all in to a few day's visit. From trails through pine forest, to streams by leafy woodland, ponys and highland cows on wild moorland and high beacons with far reaching views to Wales across the sea, Devon and over the Somerset Levels.

We struggle to list all the possible walks you can do, but we do provide a few walking routes and maps in the information folder in The Milking Parlour, along with an OS Map you can use.

We have found that one good way to find your ideal route is to use one of the popular hiking apps or websites that give really good detailed instructions on how to navigate your adventure. Long, short, challenging or gentle - there's something for everyone.

Click the links, or down load the Apps onto your phone from your usual App Store.

Hiking Apps:

Komoot:  www.komoot.com

Available as an app or use the website. We have found this quite useful even on their free version which you can access good ideas for walks or customise your own route. If you want to download you will need to upgrade to the paid version, but it's pretty handy to plan a route on the free version as long as you have internet access.  Do bare in mind that one looses signal quite a bit up in the hills.

All Trails: www.alltrails.com

Also as an app or this website. Free version a bit more limited than Komoot, but the paid version of the app is very popular.

Quantock Online: has a walks page for detailed local routes with maps and instructions that you can download for free : www.quantockonline.co.uk

Of course there are many more resources on-line including the local websites for walks and places to visit.
